RESEARCH ON COACHING FOR THE WELL-BEING OF INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONALS

They say curiosity killed the cat—but as a dedicated researcher, I can’t help but ask questions.

How can coaching help address the challenges faced by development professionals?

In what ways can coaching have a deeper influence on international organizations, in alignment with their mandates?

How can we persuade leaders to offer this kind of support to their teams?

How can coaching contribute to making workplace cultures more humane?

How can coaching enhance the functioning of international organizations in fulfilling their global missions?

I have begun a small study on how coaching in the context of well-being initiatives can transform the lives of those working in international development—such as within the UN and NGOs—and, in turn, improve the performance of those very organizations.

Main objective

This research aims to rigorously generate evidence on the tangible and potential impact of coaching on individual well-being and organizational effectiveness within the United Nations and NGOs.

Key Questions

  • What are the most pressing needs?
  • What initiatives are underway, how are they implemented, and where?
  • What results are being achieved?
  • What factors are linked to the most successful programmes?
  • What steps are needed to expand and deepen the impact of coaching?
